Community Eco Trail – Khopra Ridge Trekking
1 160,00 €
This small trek in the foothills of Annapurna is conducted in collaboration with social actors who work to improve the living conditions of the villages in the Magdi region through development projects, including schools, clinics, reforestation, and irrigation.
For us, it’s a way to get closer to the locals and discover their daily lives on an original itinerary, featuring a few nights at the community lodge and sometimes a Homestay.

Walk: 2h
Walk to Nangi, the largest Magar village in the region. Lunch break at Danda Kateri (2000 m) village then a night in Nangi.
Walk 5h
we gradually gain the undergrowth and climb through a rhododendron forest and climb to the Hampal Bhanjyang pass (3090 m) then following the ridge we reach Mohare Danda—night on site offering a splendid view of 28 mountains.
Walk 5h
The day begins with the descent to Swanta village. We briefly stop at Phulbari and continue along the pine and oke forests. A short climb from Dandako Naak to Phalate village. Trails take us through sparsely populated forests and hamlets, initially downhill and then uphill after crossing the Sikha bridge to the small community of Swanta at 2200m. (Note: Another alternative trail to Swanta village passes through the classic places of Ghorepani and Poonhill. Depending on the weather and trekkers’ conditions, the guide will review the route and choose the most convenient route)
Walk: 5 hrs
Walk 1h30 under dense vegetation covered by a sometimes steep path in the undergrowth to a waterfall near which we cross the river on a small wooden bridge. The climb continues steeply for 2h with some clearings and a more sparse forest to arrive at a beautiful community lodge.
Walk 4h
Climb 2 hours to get out of the vegetation cover at the foot of the mountain pastures. From there 30 minutes of walking on the mountainside by a narrow path to reach the flat of Khopra on a spur overlooking the valleys on 3 sides. Splendid view of the Dhaulagiri just opposite, the Nilgiri to the North the peak of Barahi Shikhar and the Annapurna South due East. The site also serves as a sheepfold for herds of yaks. Lunch at Khopra Danda and exploration of the pastures and surroundings. Descent to Dhankarka for the night
Walk 5 hours
1h30 on the mountainside to a shepherd’s shelter. From there the path climbs and descends several times through white rhododendrons and bamboo groves populated by Danphé, Ghoral and Bharal Durango many other birds and also brown bears. After a last climb behind the lodge, we arrive at a ridge delimiting the districts of Myagdi and Kaski that we follow for 1 hour to arrive at the Dobato lodge for lunch
Walk 6h/6h30
The path follows a small stream until it passes under a Kani 30 minutes later. The descent begins steeply for 1 hour and then goes into a dense jungle where the trees are covered with moss and mushrooms. After 1h30 we reach the site of Tadapani where we find the much more frequented trail of the great Annapurna circuit. We descend into the Modi Valley and will cross forests, terraced farms and a few villages before reaching Chhomrong for the night.

FAQ
This Annapurna and Dhaulagiri trek deliberately leaves the classic trails taken by most travellers to explore little-known byways nestled between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. Walking through remote villages, wooded ridges and rarely visited valleys, you will enjoy rare calm and total immersion in the grand landscapes of this legendary region. A real alternative for those seeking the authenticity of a discreet Nepal, far from the crowds of trekkers.
One of the great strengths of this circuit is the quality of its human encounters. By staying with local families or in community-run accommodation, you actively support the local economy. Each night is an opportunity to share a meal, a moment of daily life and a smile, fostering mutual understanding and a sincere bond. A respectful, supportive and deeply human way to travel.
In spring, the Nepalese hills are covered in flowering rhododendrons, creating enchanting landscapes that you cross along balcony trails. From natural viewpoints such as Mohare Danda and Khopra Ridge, the view opens wide onto the Himalayan giants: Annapurna I (8,091 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Machhapuchhare all dominate the horizon. These less-visited viewpoints offer a feeling of absolute freedom, ideal for lovers of wild nature.
After several days of walking, what could be better than a wellness break in the heart of nature? The natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda, nestled beside a river, offer a well-deserved moment of relaxation. This open-air bath, with the mountains as a backdrop, is a lovely way to gently conclude a trek that is at once intimate, physical and deeply restorative.
